2 Corinthians 13:14 The Apostolic Benediction

A doxology is an ascription of praise; a benediction is a word of blessing. One ascends from the heart of man to God, the other descends from God to man.

Occasionally we might use a doxology, a word of glory to God, like Jude 24-25. In a benediction my extended hands are palms down, while a doxology is palms up.
